  17. <p>     The Democrats may be trading blows in New Hampshire, but
  18. if you're looking for real hardball, keep an eye on the
  19. Republican presidential primary. While Pat Buchanan's ads have
  20. pounded away at President Bush for his no-new-taxes switcheroo
  21. and other failings, Bush has played Gentleman George so far,
  22. ignoring his upstart competitor and focusing on his own
  23. leadership and compassion. That's classic top-dog strategy. But
  24. don't forget the President's pledge to do what it takes to win.
  25. Bush's team is preparing scorching ads that target Buchanan as
  26. a pinheaded isolationist and protectionist. If Buchanan's
  27. support edges past 30%, get ready, New Hampshire--the rockets
  28. are coming.
